Welcome

Without the help of volunteers, The Family Life Centre would find it impossible to meet the demands of the communities they serve. We currently have a large group of volunteers who do a range of different tasks. These include:

  • Facilitating life skills programmes, with the youth (see information Below Education for Living Department)
  • Professional counselling (qualified social workers or psychologists only)
  • Marriage preparation - Must have completed Basic Counselling Training and Prepare and Enrich Training
  • Divorce and family mediation - Must have completed Basic Mediation Training
  • Administrative and/or fund-raising tasks such as organising a specific event
  • Professional trainers who assist in the running of a wide range of programmes
  • Community volunteers have the opportunity to undergo the excellent training to assist community workers in the areas of your choice: Soweto, Westbury, Lenasia, Diepsloot and Alexandra.

Education for Living Department Volunteers

To work in Government and Private Schools in Johannesburg

Any donation large or small in memory of an anniversary would assist us in making a difference.

The Family Life Centre’s Education for Living department requires volunteers who are available during the day to work in the schools. You will be working with children in grades 6 and 7 preparing them for puberty. We provide intensive training one morning a week for 13 weeks. From then on every alternate Tuesday will include ongoing workshops. At times these workshops will include guest speakers covering a broad range of relevant topics. Volunteers are invited to attend The Family Life Centre’s In-service Training for staff.

More experienced volunteers work with parenting groups and work with older children.

For more information please phone The Family Life Centre:
Grainne Ridler at 011 788 4784 or email Grainne: famlife@iafrica.co.za

Grainne is presently training a new group of volunteers. Our next intake will be February 2010.
